In order to expand mining operations a habitat assessment and fauna management program was required to clear protected vegetation. Previous investigations indicated a number of Commonwealth and State listed threatened species occurred within the area. PLACE Design Group devised a fauna management plan to allow clearing of the immediate extraction areas with minimal impact to fauna. Due to the fact that the majority of species impacted by this expansion are nocturnal habitat clearing was only conducted during the night to avoid death or injury to any fauna. This allowed immediate extraction of minerals, saving millions of dollars of potential lost profit due to unnecessary delays.
